Summary:
"Diagnosed with Stage IV thyroid cancer at 13, Hazel was prepared to die until, at 14, a medical miracle shrunk the tumours in her lungs... for now.

Two years post-miracle, sixteen-year-old Hazel is post-everything else, too; post-high school, post-friends and post-normalcy. And even though she could live for a long time (whatever that means), Hazel lives tethered to an oxygen tank, the tumours tenuously kept at bay with a constant chemical assault.

Enter Augustus Waters. A match made at cancer kid support group, Augustus is gorgeous, in remission, and shockingly to her, interested in Hazel. Being with Augustus is both an unexpected destination and a long-needed journey, pushing Hazel to re-examine how sickness and health, life and death, will define her and the legacy that everyone leaves behind."

Review:

Where do I start with John Green? If you’ve read any of his works, especially Looking For Alaska, then you will know how hard it is to write a review on the amazing spectacle that is his writing. I’m pretty sure I fall deeper in love with every book of his I read, and my thoughts are stars I cannot fathom into constellations.” *wink, wink, if you’ve read the book, you’re in the know – if you don’t know, then it’s time you grabbed the book and got started.*

More than the characters, more than the plot, more than all of that, what attracts me most to his books is his style of writing. How he can take any subject, even one as touchy as cancer, and turn it in to this hilarious, touching, heart-warming story that leaves you crumpling tissue after tissue.
The Fault In Our Stars was no exception, as it left me with a heavy heart, in the best of ways, after finishing the last page.

John Green has constructed for us, two enigmatic and perfectly flawed characters that meet in the unlikeliest of places – a church support group for the trauma filled members who suffer from various inflictions, and here they come to discuss and support each other for all they go through. There sits Hazel in the mists of the circle, thinking what a waste of time this is, trying to find an escape route. Clever, charming, entertainingly witty. Then, enter Augustus Waters, who sweeps in to the room, in to Hazel’s life and changes everything.

There’s romance, family drama, with underlying messages about hope, faith and getting through the dark times. What I can almost guarantee, is that you’ll love Augustus Waters and Hazel, and you’ll be rooting for them by the end of the book. Of course, given that it’s a John Green book, there’s most definitely heartache and sad times, but it’s one that reminds you to be thankful for all that you have, for there’s always someone worse off than you *well that’s the way I like to think of it anyway.*

The writing, the creation and execution of characters, witty, funny dialogue, the quotes, OH GOSH THE QUOTES, all add to the book and make it the perfect package that is this book. With a stunning cover like that, how could you possibly say no?

I defiantly recommend this book to anyone and everyone, for with an unread book like this, it’s just love waiting to happen.

Now as I reach for another tissue, let me leave you with some of my favourite quotes. Enjoy.

“As he read, I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once.”
_
“My thoughts are stars I cannot fathom into constellations.”
_
“That's the thing about pain...it demands to be felt.”
_
“Sometimes, you read a book and it fills you with this weird evangelical zeal, and you become convinced that the shattered world will never be put back together unless and until all living humans read the book.”
_
"I'm in love with you, and I'm not in the business of denying myself the simple pleasure of saying true things. I'm in love with you, and I know that love is just a shout into the void, and that oblivion is inevitable, and that we're all doomed and that there will come a day when all our labour has been returned to dust, and I know the sun will swallow the only earth we'll ever have, and I am in love with you.”
_
“You don't get to choose if you get hurt in this world...but you do have some say in who hurts you. I like my choices.”
The marks humans leave are too often scars.”
